A lifelong resident and alumnus of Cambria Heights, Mr. Kerchenske has served as the district’s Superintendent since July 1, 2021.  He is currently the Intermediate Unit 8 representative on the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators (PASA) Advocacy Committee, advocating for the needs of local school districts and helping to develop PASA’s official policy platform for statewide educational issues.

He began his educational career in 2005, teaching Social Studies at Cambria Heights Middle School for eight years.  During that time, he also worked as an instructor for the Upward Bound Program at Saint Francis University.

In 2013, Mr. Kerchenske was named Assistant Principal of Cambria Heights High School; he took over as building Principal the following year.  During his eight years as Principal, Cambria Heights High School’s students consistently ranked among the top schools in Cambria County in Literature, Biology, and Algebra I achievement on the state Keystone Exams.  In 2022, Cambria Heights High School was designated a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education.

Mr. Kerchenske has also served the district in extracurricular activities as well, having been an assistant varsity baseball coach, junior high boys’ basketball coach, assistant girls’ varsity soccer coach, and assistant and head boys’ varsity soccer coach, in addition to serving as an advisor to multiple clubs and activities.  He has also worked as a PIAA baseball and softball official and served on the PIAA District 6 Committee as a high school principal representative.

When not at school, Mr. Kerchenske enjoys listening to live music, skiing, and CrossFit.  He is an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins, hoping to see them win at least one Super Bowl in his lifetime!
