Title I and Title IIA
What is Title I?
Title I is a 100% federally funded supplemental education program that provides additional educational services and programs. Title I programs are designed to help children meet the state content and performance standards in reading and mathematics.
Cambria Heights School District has a schoolwide Title I program in the elementary building. As a schoolwide program, all students and staff members are considered “Title I eligible”. Title I funds are used to support supplemental instruction in reading and mathematics.
What is Title IIA?
Title II, Part A, is a 100% federally funded supplemental educational program that provides financial assistance to improve the skills of teachers and the quality of instruction in core academic subjects in public and private elementary and secondary schools.
Title II, Part A, combines the Eisenhower and Class-Size Reduction programs into one program that focuses on preparing, training, and recruiting and hiring highly qualified teachers.
Cambria Heights uses its Title IIA funds to maintain small class sizes at the elementary by providing the salary and benefits for an additional kindergarten teacher in the building. Funds are also used for high-quality professional development for core academic staff.
